Canon demonstrates Software Imaging’s XPS technology solutions on its large format printers at drupa 2008
- XPS RIP and driver technology optimised for Canon devices
- New solutions ensure high-speed high-quality CAD and general office printing
- Improved colour accuracy and high line fidelity through optimal tie-in with Windows Vista
drupa 2008, DUSSELDORF, May 30, 2008 – Canon, world leader in imaging technology solutions, and Software Imaging, one of the world’s largest independent providers of printing and imaging technologies and development services, are demonstrating new XPS solutions at drupa 2008.
The demonstration will use Software Imaging’s PrintMagicXPS raster image processor (RIP) and XPSDrv driver, specifically designed for Canon’s large format printers (LFPs), to print CAD and general office documents on the new LP17. By enabling fast XPSDrv printer driver creation to support the XPS fixed-layout file format developed by Microsoft, the software is particularly suited for printing from Windows Vista environments.
The accurate, high-speed XPS rendering results in high line fidelity for CAD applications and an exact rendition of colour, making Canon’s LFPs perfectly suited for the output of technical drawings and office printing where colour accuracy is key. The innovative drag and drop XPS file printing to all Canon devices makes the printers and their software ideal tools to produce an unrivalled level of accuracy, fidelity and performance.
Anne Sharp, European Marketing Manager, Large Format Solutions, Canon Europe, says: “We are always working to make our range of LFPs completely fit our customers’ requirements. By partnering with Software Imaging, we are bringing advanced XPS technology solutions to our printers, resulting in unrivalled output quality at high print speeds.”
Jon Williams, Group Product Manager for Software Imaging says: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to demonstrate XPS printing with Canon at drupa. Since PrintMagicXPS supports accurate colours through to 16-bit/channel colour rendering, Canon’s Large Format Printers can take full advantage of these XPS solutions, ensuring that colour fidelity is maintained throughout the printing process – which results in stunning output.”
In conjunction with Canon LFP printers, Software Imaging’s PrintMagicXPS RIP delivers an industry-leading level of accuracy, fidelity and performance, enabling fast XPSDrv printer driver creation for Windows Vista.
For a demonstration of the software, which includes printing from AutoCAD and AutoDesk viewer applications and MS Office 2007 – both with direct XPS support – please visit the Canon stand B46, Hall 8A at drupa 2008.
